Linking a new or existing Fundipedia field with MPS

Introduction

The MPS integration into Fundipedia is accomplished by linking fields in Fundipedia to fields in MPS, to ensure MPS always has the most up to date information. To see what links are currently in place, Admins can navigate to the "Admin" section, then "Fund Central" and choose the required MPS section (Either Factsheet or KIID). Clicking the "Schema" seciton will reveal the current links. You can only view the links for one object at a time. You can select which object's links you are viewing by selecting it in the dropdown.

Updating links

You can update the links by using the template provided after speaking to Support. You are able to link existing fields as well as create new fields as part of this process. We will now go through the relevant columns:

*ObjectName - This is the name of the top level object the field belongs to (i.e. Fund, Shareclass etc).
*FieldName - Enter the name of an existing Fundipedia field to link it to an MPS field. If the name is no recognised (As in, there is no field matching the FieldName in this template), then a new field will be created and connected.
*ExportFieldName - This is the MPS field name that you wish to link the Fundipedia field to.
*Display Name - This is the name Fundipedia will use when displaying the field in the UI.
*Description - The Fundipedia description of the field.
*FieldType - This can either be "Generic" or "Language Dependent". Generic fields don't have language variations, Language Dependent fields do.
*DataType - This governs the kind of data that can be stored in this field. Some examples of data types include: "Lookup", "Boolean", "Number" and "Text", among others.
MaxLength - This sets a maximum length for a field. For example, you can set a MaxLength for a text field.
Ref - This column is used when importing new Lookup fields. You can insert lookup values in this column separated by "|".

The above fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory in all situations.

After completing the template, navigate to the Schema page of the MPS section required, choose the MPS file created and press "Update Schema". This can take some time if creating language dependent fields. Afer it's complete you're ready to go.

It's always best to test linking fields on Test before moving it into the Live environment. You may need to liase with MPS to create the required fields on the test universe.
